Judging by the plot and theme, I should have reveled in the 2025 novel Table for One by Emma Gannon. A young woman living in London is about to move into a dream house with her partner, with whom she founded a thriving tech company. When he sets up a just-us dinner at their favorite restaurant, she believes he is going to propose. Instead, he drops the bombshell that he is moving to New York City, by himself, booting her from their company, and that their relationship is over. Devastated, our heroine falls back on her previous writing career with an assignment to profile an influencer whose theme is solo living. Through their interactions, she makes her peace with being single, recovering a vital relationship with herself.
